Where can I find my Amazon Worker ID?
Once you log in to Amazon MTurk, select the “Your Account” tab at the top of the page. You should see the following: “Dashboard: JaneDoe (If you’re not JANEDOE, click here.)” Your worker ID is located directly below this. It is a 14-figure code that always begins with the letter “A”.
Does it cost me anything to join the team?
No. Signing up with Write.com is 100% free. The only time money exchanges hands is when we pay you for your writing.
How much do you pay for writing assignments?
We pay $2.25 for 100-word drafts and $4.75 for 250-word drafts. Experienced writers can complete anywhere from 5-8 drafts per hour, earning upwards of $18 an hour.
How long does it take Amazon to put money in my account?
Amazon puts an initial 10-day freeze on your payments account. This is to ensure that you are not a spambot or someone attempting to spam the requesters. You must complete, at minimum, ONE HIT PER DAY for the first 10 days. Once this 10-day grace period passes, you can expect payment within 4 days for your work. For more information, read Understanding the Amazon Payments System.
Can I become an editor?
In order to become an editor, you first must join our writing team. Once you have completed at least 20 writing assignments, we will give you the opportunity to take the editor assessment. Editors make $1.25 for 100-word drafts and can complete anywhere from 10 to 15 drafts an hour. Editors also receive bonuses for submitting error-proof work.
Why can I not access your writing jobs?
You must submit the appropriate worker ID through Write.com. Until you receive a confirmation email from us, you will not have access to the writing jobs.
Why do some jobs pay only 3 cents per hour?
The time frame given on Amazon’s Mechanical Turk is simply a maximum. This gives you the chance to get up and answer the phone or tend to events as they arise without losing your job. Typically, jobs that pay as little as three cents can be completed in rapid-fire succession without much thought.
Why do you have your own style guide as opposed to using a trusted source like the Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL)?
We do not follow the MLA or APA styles of writing. Instead, we adhere closely to The Yahoo! Style Guide, which is optimized for writing, editing and creating content on the web.
Are there other jobs besides writing/editing jobs?
Yes. In fact, we offer a wide variety of jobs aside from writing/editing, including image moderation, product coverage, word breakdowns and many others. Please check Amazon Mechanical Turk for a complete listing of current CrowdSource jobs.
